Firstly, please check the letter requiring your attendance in Court. The said document will state the time of the trial and when your attendance is necessary. Most of the times, by default, the cases are fixed at 9am unless stated otherwise. It must be noted that the parking in Court is limited and thus it would be prudent to manage your time accordingly. Whenever possible, please consider using services such as E-Hailing to avoid any issues with parking and such. Kindly also be reminded to wear appropriate clothing when attending trial. Reference can be made to the earlier topic which discusses this. It is also important to note that if you are attending Court as a witness, please bring all the relevant document that is related to your evidence in Court. For an example, if you are testifying as an employer, please bring all documents related to the employment of your worker. The failure in doing so will result in you having to attend Court another day with all the relevant documents and being subjected to cross examination again. If your attendance in Court is for criminal or traffic cases and you want to mitigate seeking lesser sentence, please bring all the necessary documents that can be used for the purposes of mitigation. For an example, if you are suffering from any illness, do bring the necessary medical records to support your contention. Always remember that the submission of the said documentation during mitigation is not compulsory but it is highly suggested as this can be used to expedite the court process. Finally, when you are attending Court, do take leave for one whole day and be prepared to be in Court for the whole day. This is due to the fact that there is a possibility that your case can be postponed or adjourned to a later time or to the evening due to unforeseen circumstances. Adjournments are based on the discretion of the Court and it is better if your case can be concluded on the same day as opposed to securing another date for your evidence in Court. Please watch the attached video clip (in Bahasa Melayu) for better explanation on the said topic. Podcast link (Spotify) attached at the bottom for the audio podcast.
